Lyric video for City Slang Records

Made with handwritten lyrics from the artist.

Using Yoko’s drawings from the ‘Franklin Summer’ series and a font I created from Yoko’s handwriting I created a full length lyric video for each track from her album ‘Warzone’.

One track was released each week, every Tuesday, until the album came out.

Some tracks were made in collaboration with or entirely by Sam Williams.

Probably the most words i’ll ever animate in one go

I used the idea of comic book speech and narrative boxes to wind the lrics of the song through an animation of the single’s artwork. The artwork was drawn by Spanish illustrator Maria Medem.

Three remixes were made of veteran acid house producer D-Mob’s track ‘We Call It Acieed’

Working with only the single and album art I created a moving machine of shapes and patterns intertwined with the lyrics of the song.

Inspired by old Sudanese 7inch covers with images of the artists and his family throughout. Recreated, on the whole, by hand then scanned in and rebuilt in Photoshop before being animated.

I was asked to make two lyric videos for Laura Gibson both with a similar concept integrating lyrics into existing footage from prelinger archive and archive.org.

Both songs taken from Laura’s amazing 2018 album ‘Goners’

Made in collaboration with Phillip Kremer. He did a load of collages of the bands faces and I turned them into a mad messed up animation.

The brief was to take the new White Denim album art and turn it into an animation. All this sprung from just one painting!

The painting was by american artist Will Gaynor

THE END OF THE WORLD WITH YOU

The band shot masses of drone footage while recording their latest album which I edited down and designed type for. This was then tracked into the shots to form this lyric video.

Given only a set of 5 still postcards I turned them into this animated lyric video. 

ANOTHER SPACE

My dark take on an old CRT screen with a DOS like interface.

Put simply this video is a journey of shapes and lines, inspired by planets and orbits. The aim was to make something beautiful and restrained to reflect the simple and growing nature of the track. It is a very graphical video taking influence from old space posters and sci-fi design, something that I personally love. There is a very loose theme which follows a circle as it explores various environments made only of shape
